A little bit about Axis….

Axis Insurance Managers (formerly Winram Insurance) was established at a single location over 60 years ago in Vancouver, B.C. The former Winram had grown largely on the strength of providing ‘home-style’ insurance service to auto, homeowner and small commercial customers. .

In 1999, the firm was purchased by Tony Davis and a new era of growth was about to begin.

Under new ownership, the company has grown to 5 locations in B.C., one in Whitehorse, Yukon, one in Alberta and more on the planning board as you read this. The new growth has come mainly with the addition of significant commercial expertise in several specialty areas which was a great complement to the Axis tradition of home and auto protection.

Clive Bird joined the firm as co-owner in 2004 and in doing so also brought much additional experience in specialty commercial insurance from his broad exposure both in the Lloyd’s of London market and later with one of the world’s leading commercial insurance brokerages .

In 2005, the company was re-branded as “Axis Insurance Managers”, a name which reflects the company’s core philosophy… that our customer is at the centre of all we do. At Axis, our service goal is to provide you with attention that is prompt, fair informed and courteous at all times.

At Axis Insurance Managers we strive to be a good citizen, both in the communities in which we do business and beyond. We support local United Way campaigns, shelters for abused women and care places for street youth. On a broader scale, Axis is proud to assist the Utha and Dixie villages in Africa to provide educational opportunities for the children through our ‘Run for the Rescue “ participation.

Axis Insurance Managers is also a proud supporter of the 2008 Yukon Quest dogsled race.
