I’m Shane Neil, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for Eastern Canada at Axis Insurance, where I bring over 20 years of experience with both specialized and mainstream insurers. My career began as an underwriting trainee at Chubb, focusing on Technology and Life Sciences clients. Over the years, I’ve held leadership roles that allowed me to shape and manage significant portfolios, including co-launching and building a branch office for an MGA and leading underwriting teams within various industry segments and across multiple lines of business, including Property, Casualty, Professional liability, Fleet/ IRCA, and programs.
 
My recent experience at Economical Insurance involved turning around profitability and leading a large team during a period of significant change, including the transition from a mutual company to a public entity. Throughout my career, I’ve built a reputation for solving complex insurance challenges, fostering high-performance cultures, and nurturing strong business relationships based on integrity, diplomacy, and innovative thinking. At Axis, I’m focused on strategic growth initiatives, including talent acquisition, partnerships, and brokerage acquisitions, to broaden our presence in Eastern Canada.
 
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my three children, and staying active with hobbies like snowboarding, hiking, and motorcycling. Whether I’m coaching my kids in football, hitting the slopes, or trying my hand at new sports like curling and pickleball, I love staying engaged in family activities and bringing that same energy back to my professional role.
