Kathleen Derona

Administrative Assistant, Commercial & Private Aviation

I’m Kathleen Derona, Administrative Assistant supporting the Commercial and Private Aviation teams at Axis. I work closely with Account Managers to send renewals, generate invoices, manage data entry, obtain quotes from underwriters, and coordinate both new and renewal policies, including commercial and recreational drone accounts.

With eight years of customer service experience and a background in Office Administration, Health Services, I’ve built a strong foundation in organization, attention to detail, and supporting complex processes. Since 2022, I’ve managed the Commercial Drone Book of Business and, more recently, supported the Recreational Drone Book until it was transferred to another team member in May 2024.

While I work behind the scenes, I play an important role in ensuring seamless service and reducing delays for our clients. From coordinating documents between platforms, submitting information across time zones, and keeping the renewal and quoting process moving, I help ensure that every client receives the right coverage when it’s needed most.

At Axis, where “risks shape success,” I support our clients by making sure their insurance is in place and tailored to their needs, especially when timing is critical. An example of this was an urgent request for drone insurance needed for an international flight. By quickly coordinating with an underwriter in the UK, I helped secure the coverage in time, allowing the client to operate with confidence and stay focused on their business.

Outside of work, I’m a proud mom to a beautiful, smart boy. I love cooking, doing arts and crafts, and making handmade items for my side business, Krafty Mama. In my free time, I listen to podcasts and audiobooks and stay creative by organizing and decorating for events. I’ve also enjoyed volunteering with a local organization that supports young mothers, sharing stories and lessons learned to help others through their own challenges.
