Manager, Underwriting

I’m Ruth McCann, Manager of the Underwriting Division at Axis Insurance. I joined the team in 2020, initially as an Account Manager before transitioning to Underwriting in 2021 and subsequently taking on the role of BSAA Manager in 2023.

With nearly a decade of experience in the insurance industry, my expertise lies in Professional & Financial Lines along with Commercial General Liability, specifically in Construction & Real Estate. Equipped with an Honors Bachelor of Business and a Professional Diploma in Insurance, I also hold professional designations in the form of my Insurance CIP from Ireland and a Canadian Level 2 license across multiple provinces.

Throughout my career, I’ve been honored to receive recognition for my contributions, including being a two-time winner of Axis company value awards and a nominee for the 50 Rising Stars in 2023. At Axis, my role is centered on empowering our brokers to offer clients our in-house products with confidence, ensuring they have the support and solutions they need to thrive.

Beyond the office I seek new adventures and experiences through travel. I also love to explore the great outdoors through hiking and have a passion for live music.
