Rob McLeod, a seasoned insurance professional at Axis Insurance, has taken the helm as President of the Professional Liability Agents Network (PLAN) effective September 16, 2024. PLAN, established in 1984, is a distinguished network exclusively tailored to agents serving design professionals such as architects and engineers. The presidency of PLAN is a rotating position among its members, and Rob will lead the organization for the next year.
Rob brings a wealth of experience to this role, having been an active member of PLAN for over a decade. He currently leads the Professional & Financial Services Team at Axis Insurance, a team comprising 30 dedicated professionals. Axis has been the exclusive broker for AXA XL’s professional liability products in British Columbia for over 20 years, underscoring the company’s commitment to excellence in serving design professionals.
A Decade of Growth and Collaboration
Rob’s journey with Axis and PLAN has been deeply intertwined. “We wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for PLAN,” Rob reflects. “The network has been fundamental to our development of resources and expertise in the A&E industry, with our focus on professional liability risk. It’s allowed us to work at a very high level and better serve our clients.”
Over the past 12 years at Axis, Rob has leveraged the resources and connections provided by PLAN to enhance the company’s offerings. Vision for the Future
As President, Rob will chair meetings, coordinate with the board, and preside over the planning of the annual conference. He takes over the position from Nick Maletta of Holmes Murphy, an influential insurance brokerage based in Iowa. Reflecting on his predecessor’s tenure, Rob notes, “Nick set a remarkable standard and paved a strong path forward for PLAN. Under his leadership, we hosted one of our most successful conferences to date.”
Joining Rob in leadership is Kelly Potter, who will serve as Vice President. Kelly is a respected professional at Cavignac, an insurance brokerage based in California. Together, they aim to build on the solid foundation laid by previous leaders and steer PLAN toward new heights.
Rob is passionate about enhancing the value that PLAN brings to its members. One of his primary goals is to expand the network’s educational offerings. “Education is the cornerstone of our industry’s future,” Rob emphasizes. “By investing in the development of young and aspiring A&E brokers, we not only elevate our profession but also ensure that our clients receive an elevated level of service.”

Assuming the presidency of PLAN is a significant milestone in Rob’s career. “It’s an honor to lead a group that has been instrumental in my professional growth,” he shares. “PLAN has not only helped me develop as a broker but has also enabled Axis to better serve our clients through shared knowledge and resources.”
