I’m Rae Villanueva, Talent Acquisition Specialist at Axis Insurance. I take a strategic, people-first approach to recruitment, connecting high-impact talent with the right opportunities to drive growth and strengthen our business from within. My role isn’t just about filling roles; it’s about building lasting partnerships across teams to ensure we’re hiring with intention and vision. 

My journey into HR began with the Canadian Red Cross, where I volunteered as an HR Assistant. That experience sparked a passion for recruitment that brought me from Manitoba to Vancouver, where I launched my career with a recruitment agency. Prior to joining Axis, I spent over three years recruiting across diverse industries like Accounting and Finance, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Construction. That breadth taught me to spot potential beyond résumés and to understand the bigger picture of organizational growth. 

At Axis, I focus on sourcing and engaging candidates who don’t just meet current needs, but who will elevate our teams for the long haul. I pride myself on creating a seamless and authentic experience, for both candidates and hiring managers. By helping us build the right teams, I enable Axis and our clients to grow boldly, embracing talent as a competitive advantage in uncertain and evolving markets. 

Outside of work, I’m either immersed in a good book or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. I also enjoy hiking and discovering new restaurants with friends.
