Senior Vice President, Corporate Development & Director, Edmonton

I am Chris Waye, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Director, Edmonton at Axis. I lead regional corporate development with a focus on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), financial performance, risk, and compliance. My work centers on building strong teams, aligning cross‑functional priorities, and ensuring our region consistently delivers on Axis values, governance standards, and service excellence.

My career began in public accounting, where I developed rigorous analytical and advisory skills before transitioning into the insurance brokerage industry. This path led me to become a Partner and President of Treasures Insurance, leading the firm’s strategic planning, financial oversight, long‑term growth, and their transition to Axis. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce from MacEwan University and professional designations as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP).

At Axis, my work focuses on corporate development, M&A, and regional growth strategy across Edmonton and the surrounding Alberta market. This includes helping clients and teams navigate risk with confidence by providing structure, insight, and practical solutions. A long-term perspective guides each initiative, ensuring decisions create lasting value and support sustainable growth.

Community involvement is an important part of who I am. I have served on boards including Kids Up Front and the Infill Development in Edmonton Association (IDEA), and I continue to support Canadian Blood Services. Every year, I host a charity slo pitch tournament benefiting the Stollery Children’s Hospital. These experiences help shape my leadership style and reinforce the importance of empathy, collaboration, and meaningful impact.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, travelling, and staying active through golf, curling, and slo pitch.
