Senior Employee Benefits Service Specialist

I am Barb Hodges, Senior Employee Benefits Service Specialist at Axis. I work closely with Jennifer Harris to manage benefit programs for our top clients, acting as the main connection between clients, insurers, and plan members. My focus is to make the benefits process clear, efficient, and supportive, especially when clients or members are dealing with claims or complex questions. 

I bring more than 35 years of insurance experience across customer service, agency support, branch operations, and brokerage work. I first worked with Thomas in 1997, supporting sales, administration, and events, and returned to Axis in 2017 after taking time away to raise my family. Since then, I’ve specialized in employee benefits with a focus on commercial transportation and financial program claims. I’m skilled at interpreting policy wording, navigating challenging files, and resolving claims with accuracy and fairness.  

My goal is to give clients clarity during moments that often feel stressful. Whether I am managing a claims issue or helping a benefits administrator understand a policy detail, I focus on reducing complexity so clients can make decisions with confidence. 

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, field hockey, travel, and spending time with my family.
