I’m Derek John, the Executive Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions at Axis Insurance. With four years in the insurance sector and extensive experience in high-stakes financial environments, my role involves steering complex mergers, acquisitions, and financial strategies that directly contribute to our firm’s and clients’ growth and success.

My expertise centers around mergers & acquisitions, capital raising, and strategic allocation of resources to ensure optimal business integration and value creation. I have had the privilege of advising senior executives and board members on significant financial transactions totalling over $50 billion, including public and private market financings, acquisitions, divestitures, and IPOs. This experience enables me to assess strategic opportunities to grow Axis Insurance, ultimately helping our clients to access broader coverage and embrace the risks inherent in opportunities for growth.

Outside of the office, I’m an avid squash player and runner. I also enjoy coaching little league baseball, which sharpens my leadership and team-building skills—qualities that I bring back to my professional role at Axis Insurance, where we shape success through strategic risk management.
