Executive Leadership Team,Human Resources

Vice President, Human Resources

About Lesley Woodruff:

As the HR Guru, Lesley is the VP of Human Resources at Axis. With people being her passion, she has overseen all things HR at Axis for over 8 years. She is proud to be able to work for a company where she is surrounded by a wealth of knowledge and experience, and people who live by the same core values as she does, along with a CEO that celebrates diversity and provides equal opportunity to those that work hard and show leadership and professional growth.

Originally hired as the Receptionist/HR Assistant for Shaw Sabey & Associates, Lesley almost immediately felt at home and knew that this was the place where she could see herself growing both personally and professionally.

As the company grew, so did Lesleys responsibilities and workload. In 2018, she was promoted to the Senior Management Team and decided to focus solely on her true passion, Human Resources!

She appreciates the fact that Axis understands and promotes flexibility in the workplace to allow her to have a work/life balance and to be a better role model for her son. She also appreciates being encouraged to challenge ideas and speak her mind without fear of reprimand.

As someone who understands the importance of being vulnerable and being comfortable with being imperfect, Lesleys advice for others is that they take ownership and learn from their mistakes so that they gain an opportunity for growth. She encourages others to speak up and to never underestimate the value of their input as well as being okay with not knowing the answer to a question. Lesley believes that as long as you are willing to learn whether its by challenging yourself to improve or surrounding yourself with subject-matter experts to guide you through everyone can grow better when we all support each other.

Lesleys educational background includes a CPHR designation (Chartered Professional in Human Resources of BC & Yukon), as well as a BCOMM from John Molson School of Business at Concordia University where she majored in Human Resources with a minor in Marketing. Here she also received the Directors Shield Award for her contribution to the Concordia Stingers varsity athletics program. Lesley has also spent 2 years teaching English in rural Japan.
