I’m Dustin Barlott, an Account Executive in the Construction, Contractors & Real Estate practice group at Axis Insurance. I work with businesses across Alberta, helping them understand how insurance and risk decisions can strengthen their ability to win work, support growth, and navigate challenges with confidence.
 
My focus extends beyond placing coverage. I help clients understand how their operations, contracts, and business plans translate into insurability, and I work to ensure their insurance programs respond when they’re needed most. Whether a company is pursuing new opportunities or managing a claim, my goal is to help make risk a manageable part of doing business rather than a barrier to growth.
 
One example involved helping a client strengthen its risk management practices and overall insurability while pursuing international opportunities. By improving documentation, controls, and risk posture, the organization was better positioned to earn the confidence of both underwriters and new markets.
 
Before joining Axis, I spent four years with a national insurance brokerage supporting construction, energy, and international clients. In 2023, I was selected to open a new office and grow the territory from the ground up. I hold the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS), and Energy Risk Insurance Specialist (ERIS) designations, along with a RIBO licence.
 
Outside of work, I serve on the Board of Directors for a local youth development association and volunteer with a community grants organization. I also enjoy staying active with my daughter, playing baseball, strength training, and spending time with a good book.
